Our English Setter History
In 1974 we decided that we needed to have more color in the yard other than just red dogs running around, so enter the English Setters. We bought an English from a local breeder, Mi Jean's Majestic Blue Mist, Mandy. We showed her, but knew that we needed to go outside of Alaska to find another English Setter kennel and after corresponding with Shirley Hoeflinger, Seamrog Setters, we knew that was where our next puppy was coming from.
Soon Bandit, CH Seamrog Northern Star resided at our house and grew up thinking he was an Irish Setter since that was all he ever ran with. He was a turning point for us in English, he had a lovely body, temperament and just a love to be around, but when he won Best in Show from the classes we were nothing but thrilled!
Our next English that we had a blast with was Bronson, Ch. Seamrog Black Bart. He finished quickly in 3 countries. We then bought Maggie, CH Waywest Image of Gold-D, from Bludawn kennels in Canada as a young adult finished her quickly, but what she did for us in the whelping box is what we thank her for. We bred her to 2 different stud dogs and she produced many Champions for us, including our Ch Mi Jean's Boot Scootin' Boogie, Ch Mi Jean's Custom Made & Ch Mi Jean's Made To Order, Zakri, who was then bred to Ch Set'r Ridge Platinum Mi Jean, Caitlin.
We then saw a puppy at Stagedoor that we thought had to come and live at our place, Ch Stagedoor N Mi Jeans Magic, Emily. We bred her to Ch Set'r Ridge Solid Gold, and she produced Ch Mi Jean's N Stagedoor Sasha and Ch Stagedoor N Mi Jean's Prima. When breeding Sasha to Boogie we have our new crop of youngsters, Mi Jean's Save The Last Dance, Mi Jean's Dirty Dancing, and Mi Jean's Boogie Nights. This was the last ES litter that we bred, but have continued with our Irish Setters and English Cocker Spaniels.
